Who would’ve thought that my sister in law who I didn’t know at all when she married my brother would end up being one of the most important people in my life? Definitely not me! 😂 But here we are.
When Alex got pregnant with Luke, she got giant and was feeling pretty miserable. Somehow, that was the moment we clicked. That shared honesty, humor, and chaos became the start of something really special. I got to know how genuinely funny she is, how insanely creative and talented she is, and how easy she is to talk to.
We both love all things art, crafts, and home decor. She has such a great eye for design and style, and we just get each other. Sometimes I think back to how lonely life felt before she came into it, and it kind of blows my mind. As someone who processes everything out loud, having someone I can talk to every day, literally every day on FaceTime, is the biggest gift. I’ve never had a friendship quite like this one, and I treasure it so much.
In the past year, I’ve watched her grow in such amazing ways. She’s faced hard things, grown stronger, and stepped more fully into who she was always meant to be. Watching that transformation has been such a great experience.
Oh, and did I mention she’s ridiculously photogenic? 😂 This maternity session was actually our first photo session together. Life was absolute chaos at the time. We were still recovering from our house fire and I never finished editing it… until now! Luke turns 3 this July, so I figured it was about time!
Alex is a joy to be around. She works so hard to be the best mom she can be, she’s an incredible cook, and she’s made my life better in so many ways. I’m so grateful to watch God at work in her life, shaping her into the amazing woman He created her to be.
Maternity sessions are truly something special.
These moments are fleeting, but the photos last forever and looking back on them years later is such a beautiful way to remember the season of anticipation, transformation, and love for this little person you don’t know yet.
If you're expecting, or know someone who is, I’d love to help you capture this unique and meaningful time. Maternity sessions are fun, beautiful, and such a gift to your future self and your little one. My girls love looking at my photos and they are always in awe that they were in my belly and that it was able to get so big haha
